How it started

It all started on May 20th, 1992— my 20th birthday. It was this day I made a decision that would change the path of my life and the desires of my heart. I always believed in God and Jesus, however, my beautiful friend Suzanne shared with me James 2:19, which says “You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that- and shudder. Wait…what did that say? The demons believe? Seriously, there must be a difference between me and demons…right? I pondered this question for the first time in my life. It wasn’t long before I came across John 3:5: “Jesus answered, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and Spirit.’” It was after I came to this realization that I had a serious talk with Jesus and asked him to come into my heart. I accepted his gift of the Holy Spirit into my life.

I will be honest— I didn’t really expect anything to change, but that is because I didn’t know about the power of the Holy Spirit! In reality, everything changed. As I began to pray, read my bible and worship Jesus worked on my heart and my and my future.

My Mission

As a child, the farthest I ever traveled from my Minnesota home was to Canada. I dreamed of seeing the world, learning foreign languages and being a part of other cultures.

My first missions opportunity came in 2006 when I was able to join a small medical team from Victory Church in Lakeland, Florida and travel to Cochabamba, Bolivia. With me I brought my daughter, Hayley, who was 8 years old at the time. The trip provided a wonderful introduction to medical missions and opened my eyes to the incredible ways God was working around the world.

In 2017 & 2018 I had my next opportunities and was able to travel to Antigua, Guatemala, to provide anesthesia at Hermano, Pedro Hospital. This was a beautiful experience that sparked wonderful friendships that last to this day.

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought my trips to Antigua to an unexpected halt. During that season of uncertainty, I began praying for the Lord's direction, asking where He wanted me to serve next. God faithfully answered those prayers by opening the door for me to serve at Hospital Loma de Luz in Balfate, Honduras. It was clear that He was leading me to this place, and it has since become the primary focus of my mission work. Today, I continue to return to Honduras, grateful for the opportunity to serve and eager to follow wherever God leads next.

Happily married to my amazing husband, Kim Scheider.
